Are you considering entering Bacon Cup V? Stop contemplating and jump! Win thousands of dollars worth of prizes, plus the title of "Best Bacon in Oregon." You can enter by Contacting Our Staff (click here) and dropping us a line. There is no fee to enter, but your business must confirm by Friday, October 30th. If you haven't participated in previous years, all you need to bring is:
* Enough samples of your bacon-infused product to feed a few dozen judges, plus however many samples you want to provide to the ticket-holding audience (entries will be reimbursed fifty cents per bacon ticket redeemed, while the winner will be reimbursed one dollar per ticket). We anticipate 150-200 attendees this year. Sample sizes should include at least a half a strip of bacon, or an equivalent amount of infusion (lard whip cream, for example).
* Whatever equipment is necessary to re-heat, prepare or otherwise facilitate the makin' of your bacon. It is highly advised to limit the amount of wattage your bacon station may require. Although the venue, Panic Room, is set up to accommodate quite the power load, we encourage entries to use steam trays or, even better, a cold or room-temperature bacon dessert! It is Halloween, after all.
* An Oregon Food Handler's Card. They're super easy and cheap to obtain, and you can take the test online by clicking here, drunk on Four Loko, with an inbred squirrel picking every third answer for you. Trust us, it's easy.
That's all you need! Your business could join the ranks of Sausage Shack (2011), E.B. Smokey's (2012), Legends (2013) and Pink & Black Waffle Shack (2014), showing off a trophy for "Best Bacon in Oregon". In addition, you will win a heap of prizes and promotional acclaim. Plus, everyone who enters will benefit from a brand new customer base that may not already know how bomb the bacon at their business is.
All bacon judging will be done by pass-holding Judges and celebrity judges. Bacon tickets will not be taken into account when determining the final winner, but there will be an "Audience Favorite" category. Bacon Cup V will also involve semi-blind celebrity judging, meaning that each entry presented to celebrity judges will be done so before the judges know which business or person provided the entry.
All prizes and packages will now be presented at the event, in physical or gift certificate form. This means that if your business decides to end their relationship with Chef Jeff, your valuable prizes will not be lost if he decides to move to NYC. Also, if you are a winner from a previous year, and have not yet claimed one or more of your prizes, there's no expiration date... just contact us and we'll hook you up.
The catch? We are accepting no more than eight entries this year, so make sure to contact us right now and lock in your spot for Bacon Cup V, held at 8:00pm on Saturday, October 31st at Panic Room, located at 3100 NE Sandy in Portland, OR (click for map).
